3 Timely Stocks & Deep Dive #001 Winner: Snowflake (SNOW)
I love investing. Don’t you? Just the fact that we can invest means we are pretty dang fortunate. That doesn’t take away from all the bad in the world but it’s important to take a deep breathe, reflect on what we have, then keep driving forward.
Snowflake SNOW 0.00%↑ was the overwhelming winner of our first subscriber deep dive poll. As a shareholder, I’m excited to dive deeper into the company for the newsletter. If you’d like to vote on future deep dives and have access to my full portfolio, consider starting a paid subscription.
My Thoughts On The Market Last Week
This week was crazy for the market right? Or was it?
To be honest, I have no idea what happened with the broader market this week or the economy. I was in the Active Duty Air Force for 7 years and I have now been in the Air National Guard for 4 years and I’m currently on a training trip.
The fact that I’m not paying attention to all the news and the market’s latest moves might sound bad considering this is an investment newsletter.
But that’s the thing. This is an investment newsletter. The latest “shocking” news headline will have almost no impact on whether or not Snowflake and Microsoft are bigger and better companies in 5 years than they are today.
There have been periods over the last few years where I have paid attention to the market every single day and I am 100% certain that they quality of my decision making (in investing and in life) was far worse during those times.
This doesn’t mean we can be oblivious to our investments and the economy. It just means that we have permission to step away from our portfolios and the markets and go do things that are important to us.
That’s why I’m so excited to slow down the pace of this newsletter and focus on deep dives this year. We can take our time and truly understand what makes some companies great….and some not so great.
To be great investors and create true long-term wealth we need to focus on making higher quality decisions. Not increasing the quantity of our decisions.
I will certainly keep sharing lessons learned from legendary investors but it’s important to remember that they’re playing a totally different game with different requirements.
It’s important to learn from them, but we can’t just blindly follow everything they say or do.
